Ten Things To Remember When You Are Writing A Screenplay.
Nothing is original.
Imitation is how amateur writers get ideas to write about. Great writers steal and are proud of it. Originality is the voice you use, not the words that you write.
Talent is a vampire.
If you think you have talent then use it, practice at it and be aware that others want to be around talent. Avoid people who are your friend because you are talented.
Write every single day.
You should write everyday and even when you don’t have anything to say. Writing should become like exercise that you do daily.
Reading is fundamental.
If you are trying to write about a subject, then you should also be reading and researching that subject. Always have a related book to read nearby.
Always have side projects.
Side projects are good to have, especially when you are writing daily. These can be anything.
Let people read your work.
Get reactions and opinions from people. Getting outside thoughts from a reader can often let you see things that normally you would not have.
Would you read your story?
Take time in the writing process to read what you have written. Ask yourself if you would actually enjoy reading your work or not?
Being boring is a good.
People who have busy social lives are not usually as creative. The creative process needs alone time and needs to be free from distractions.
Less is always more.
Creative minds often have to accept that editing is necessary. What a writer chooses to leave out of a story is what really makes a difference.
Writers need to eat too.
When you are offered real money for your work, remember that you need to pay your bills. Making money is a good thing. The information doesn’t stop now. Keep looking: The Business of Screenwriting: Hip pocket representation
